Canada de la Virgin - Recent Excavation of a Pyramid

Not as dramatic as many other sites in Mexico, but plenty interesting. The walk to the site nearly did us in (the German landowner intent) ...and we didn't have the energy, knees or hips to actually climb the pyramid.  Have you ever walked on cobblestone pathways?   Ann and Jim with us...and guess who went to the top?

1/2 of the walk

We were the laggards, the group almost all between 60 and 70-something.  But the one young - 30ish member- fainted at the top - recovered quickly - but we were thanking our lucky stars.

A newly ( 2001) excavated pyramid of the Totomi - just beginning to figure out the clues - looking like it was honoring the moon ( different than the sun oriented structures, maybe female-oriented.  Soltices and equinox aligned perfectly with the openings.  Now a Federal site, the land was wrested from the German ranch-owner shaman who didn't want many visitors - thinks the land speaks for itself....her story almost as interesting as the pyramids

Lunch at nearby ranch - The Cook

The canary eats well, too..

The household altar

Finding a seat at the ranch table

If I can find one of these covers, I shall buy it!

Simple - tasty - the lunch served at nearby ranch
Freshly prepared - scrambled egg and potato at the left - a sort lf salad

Side dish of beans were excellent, also the nopales and guacamole - a new recipe - add tomatillo!!!
Then came quesadillas.
